Shop of the Week Lehane

I love creating jewelry! Years ago beads jumped out at me and yanked me into a fascinating world of color, shape, size, and incredible variety. I dream of making new jewelry designs -- knowing they will bring someone a unique connection with art, beauty, and perhaps earth's energies. I also love the old chainmaille traditions of linking rings to create beautiful ancient patterns, some with modern variations and colors. As my chainmaille and other creations expanded my shop here became crowded and so now there are two shops!
Lehane.etsy.com -- for chainmailleLehaneArts.etsy.com -- for all other jewelry styles
Symbolism, color, shape, size, and material are all elements involved in each of my creations. I think of my jewelry creations as connections between the day-to-day world and the supernatural world just beyond our view, a world of beauty, eternity, and positive energies.
My goal is to create unique wearable art with a touch of that special bold attitude which lives somewhere between elegance and playfulness.
Above is how Lehane introduces her shop.

Now what I want to know is which mood are you in?

Elegant?

Or playful?

Pinterest Hide and Seek

Pinterest is a wonderful place to lose track of time for hours. So many of us spend time doing just that. We at Group2020 have several boards perfect for browsing. The most active two are our Deals of the Week board and our Showcase board. Both is these boards have new items added all the time and would be great if you are starting to think about holiday gift shopping.
If you have to keep some of your gift ideas sorted and secret Pinterest can help with that too. Lehane's blog post talks about the private board feature that is available to us all.

What purpose does Pinterest serve for you? Hiding, seeking or both?

What Size Image Do I Need?

We, meaning my teammates, here at Group2020 are a group of online sellers trying every day to put our best foot forward. We hope others find our work appealing. We cover a wide range of skills and talents from soap making to home decor, personal accessories knitted or crocheted to jewelry including altered vintage, steampunk, chailmaille and beaded crochet. We interact daily on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ Pinterest and more.

In putting that best foot forward I recently found a resource that will be useful to us and I hope useful to others as well.

All social sites have profile picture and header options and some have even more than that. Each of them of course have different settings and knowing those settings can go a long way to help you make a good impression for you and your brand.

Sprout Social  has a blog post filled with information to help and a google doc that will be updated as needed.

Shop of the Week! Cuprum29

This week I am sharing the talents of ErikaLyn of Cuprum29 on Etsy. She has many styles of handcrafted jewelry in her shop and uses the words ethnic, wedding, braille and boho among several others to describe her work in mixed metal designs.

Today I want to show you how the simplicity of a beautifully done curve can make a stunning piece of jewelry. These are admittedly my very favorite pieces to be found at Cuprum29.

Taken from the About Page in the shop you can find out the beginnings of  the beauty and art this designer brings to the public.
"The story behind my jewelry designs began as a something of a hobby that stemmed from my desire wear interesting and unusual jewelry reminiscent of ancient traditional art forms from around the globe but ... I couldn't find any that I could afford! The result was I decided to craft my own. Recently I have elevated this "hobby" to a business, Cuprum29Jewelry, here on Etsy so that I can share my designs with you!"

Here is where I leave you, dear readers, to comment, share and connect.

Shop of the Week! Crowe Shea Fashions

What fuels the passion to create for a lady who proclaims herself a professional hooker? Some understanding comes when you read from the about page  in the Crowe Shea Fashions shop.

"Growing up I was blessed with family members who enjoyed teaching me their favorite handicrafts - at least that's how I remember it. The reality may have been that I annoyed the crap out of them until they showed me how to do what they were doing.
Whatever version of history you choose to accept, the fact is thanks to cheap mass production, most of them have gone the way of the dinosaur. However I still cling tightly to my favorite: crochet. It may be fuddy duddy and equated with doilies, but ever since my mom taught me my first stitches I have been, well, hooked. I love the ability to create something beautiful with just some yarn and a hook. The meditative repetition of stitch after stitch is soothing. And I can't deny that I absolutely enjoy hearing those words, "Wow! That's crochet?" These things fuel my desire to create fun and unexpected items that will be enjoyed by others as much as I enjoyed making them."

By the way the bears are not included but make great models, don't you think?

Every thing in the shop, the hats, the scarves, the stuffed animals, the grocery bag holders, is hooked up to be loved a long time.

Links to shop, like, follow, circle, pin or tweet are below for your convenience.

NATIONAL PIEROGI DAY

Tomorrow we have an unofficial holiday in America ... NATIONAL PIEROGI DAY!

What is a pierogi you ask?

Well, friends and neighbors, since many folks don't know I will tell you but first I have to share how funny I found the fact that we have a national holiday for this culinary treat. I have been eating pierogi since I was a kid and happen to love them so upon discovering that there is a national holiday for them, official or not, I literally laughed out loud. I would never have guessed these tasty little morsels would have their own day but they do and National Pierogi Day is celebrated yearly in America on October 8 ... :)

Pierogi is plural for the rarely used Polish word pierog and is often found spelled several different ways including perogi, pierogy and oddly pierogies or perogies both of which are plural versions of the already pluralized root word.

 Grandma's Polish Perogies
Click here for the recipe posted by STEPH577 on ALLRECIPES.com

Spelling and pluralizations aside basically Pierogi are a type of filled pocket dumpling made from unleavened dough (the dough is generally similar to what would be used for slippery or drop dumplings) that are stuffed with a variety of yummy fillings in limitless combinations using ingredients such as mashed potato, cheese, onion, cabbage, sauerkraut, ground meat, mushrooms and spinach or for a sweet and delicious desert option they are filled with fruit. They are traditionally semi-circular in shape and are prepared by first boiling and are then either served as is or, for those feeling more adventurous, deep fried or sauteed in butter.

But that's not all ... there is more to it! When they hit the table (if they make it that far, ours are usually eaten before they leave the kitchen counter ... yes, they are that good!) they are accompanied by a wide assortment of delicious toppings such as melted butter, sour cream, fried bacon crumbles, sauteed mushrooms and onions, green onions, and the dessert variety turn into something really special as they are topped with apple sauce, maple syrup, caramel or chocolate sauce and of course whipped cream. The choices are endless and only limited by your own taste preferences and imagination, I once topped potato and cheese filled pierogi with chopped olives, capers and sour cream!

Eastern European immigrants first popularized pierogi in the United States and by the 1960′s, pierogi began making an appearance in the frozen food aisles of grocery stores. Now they are common to find in groceries across America and are popular as a main dish, side dish or desert depending on the filling and how they are prepared.
Mrs. T's is a popular brand offering several varieties in American groceries.

A few more interesting facts:

- At every Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game, there is a “pierogi race” where four runners, wearing pierogi costumes, race toward a finish line. (What a hoot!)

- Whiting, Indiana celebrates an annual Pierogi Fest each July. (Not just a day but a whole fest! Go Indiana!!!)

                              ***************************************************

I hope you enjoyed this little walk through "pierogidom" and if you haven't already tried them I hope you will!

Here's to very, very HAPPY NATIONAL PIEROGI DAY for everyone!

Cheers,
ErikaLyn

Lehane Arts, Shop of the Week

We believe jewelry should look gorgeous and convey an attitude. I like to create with crystals, gems, dichroic glass, metal and other materials.
The dichroic glass section of Lehane Arts is probably my favorite. To me it shows exactly what the artist in this shop means by looking gorgeous and conveying an attitude. I encourage you to browse the shop Lehane Arts on Etsy to find your own favorites.

A couple of my own favorites are below.

I also want you to know about a new board on Pinterest that Lehane and other Group2020 members are posting to. It is called Deals of the Week. As of this post and until the 2nd of August Lehane Arts has some specials waiting for you. Check the board often for exciting new offers each week!

Here is a peak at what that board has waiting for you today.

Don't miss out!

Follow Lehane's board Christmas in July on Pinterest.

The month of July is winding down and I would not want you to miss your chance to shop early for those one of a kind items that just may not be available after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In the hand made world that sort of disappointment is entirely possible.

Lanmom Originals, Our Shop of the Week

So many of us in Group 2020 have multiple skills that we bring to our shops and customers. What you find in the shop Lanmon Originals on Etsy proves that.

The variety you find in Nona's shop includes seed bead crochet which to me an art form unto itself, hand crafted soaps in all kinds of scents in skin nourishing formulas, crocheted projects with yarn or threads including hats, scarves, bracelets and headbands.

Still here? Go shopping at Lanmom Originals and come back to leave a comment about what you found to love.

Christmas in July?

Do you, like many others, start holiday shopping now rather than wait until after Thanksgiving in November?

If you will be looking for, and I really hope you are, one of a kind or limited quantities of handmade, artisan crafted items that come with the heart of their creator and a story behind the design the time is now.

If you wait until later that special gift you had your eye on may be gone. Don't let that special gift you had your eye on be gone.

Group2020 has created a board to give you some great ideas. You can see a hint of what is on our Gorgeous Gifts board on Pinterest.

Another gift idea for anytime of year really comes from Clemmie V's blog.

What would you put in the apron pocket? Let me know.

Shop of the Week Exquisite Studios

It's been a long day, so relax and enjoy the view! Welcome to the Handmade Artisan Fine Jewelry Studio that puts YOU center-stage! Sterling Silver & Gold Filled Designs abound. Update your look, wardrobe, & style. Genuine Gemstones, Wire Wrapped Styles, and my beloved Altered Authentic Vintage Jewelry Pieces. Enjoy!
With a welcome like that how could you not take the time to browse the shop of Exquisite Studios on Etsy? When you do take the time to read the descriptions of the items. She has a great deal of joy and enthusiasm for each piece of jewelry n the shop and it shows!

Monumentally Gorgeous! Handmade Artisan Altered Authentic Vintage Sterling Silver Tennis Line Bracelet featuring 10.50 Carats, tgw., of Genuine White & London Blue Topaz Gemstones!

I've been working on this Fine Jewelry Bracelet for over a month! Now this impressive, Sterling Silver, Authentic Vintage piece is all ready for YOU! This is 7 1/4 Inches in length, and the clasp has a 2-step security feature, with its hook-and-slide lock style that's perfect for its age. The clasp is not Vintage, as this was another modification I performed since the original clasp was smashed and unusable.

One of the most fascinating things I discovered about this particular piece, is the way it is designed. Most bracelets of this style are connected with each mounting having a slot on either side with a section at their tops that can be pulled apart to add the next mounting to create the line/tennis style. THIS gorgeous bracelet however, features slots on either end that the connector goes through, but--these sides are solid--no pull-apart section at their tops. These are crown mountings and the connectors are the most incredibly created ones I've ever seen. The connector "tabs," if you will, are each doubled AND soldered, making them thicker and stronger but still able to offer the overall flexibility necessary for this design. These tabs sit inside each mounting to hold one to the next--hence the term "line" when referring to this style. It's a truly amazing feature that I would be remiss if I didn't brag about.

After a thorough cleaning, polishing, and inspection, I wanted to choose the very best way to show-off this brilliant bracelet. Each of these prong mountings features a 4mm Genuine Grade AAA Gemstone, and oh my gosh are they spectacular! Every clear stone you see, is .32 Carats of White Topaz Gemstones, and the 5 center stones are each 4mm .38 Carats of London Blue Topaz Gemstones. I almost couldn't believe my math when I added these sums. There is a total of 35 mountings for an undeniably stunning 10.50 Carats, tgw. For a piece as grand as this, I feel both it and YOU, are absolutely worth it! Enjoy!
The words above show exactly what I meant about the enthusiasm and joy in the descriptions. Along with that is very detailed information on the components and the process of bringing this piece back into circulation in such a beautiful way.

So go ahead and browse the shop Exquisite Studios because as Emily says."YOU are absolutely worth it!"

It All Starts with a Ring

From the title you may think I mean weddings but today is something different.

In an informative blog post on Lehane Arts you can learn about jumprings. She includes information on how they are made, materials and more.

These jumprings are the basic pieces that are the used in the art form of chainmaille and in her shop, Lehane on Etsy, she does a wonderful job of putting these basic little rings into beautiful designs incorporating color and form.

Take a moment to check out the blog post and her shop. If you have any questions or comments I am sure she would love to hear from you!

Lehane is also the founder of Group2020 which is a select group of artisans with many skills and shops on websites and multiple venues.
